We would like to welcome to MODELS.com: Music Editor Alex Camu, Charlotte Smith as our Beauty Editor & our Sex Goddess/Astrologer/Resident Witch, Pink Jynx!

Thank you very much for landing on MODELS.com. We're excited by the tremendous feedback we've received since our late January launch and appreciate the enthusiasm with which you have taken to this site. Many of you have been honest about this being your first foray into the Internet. Let me be equally honest: when I wandered into the NYW offices in June of 1995, I could barely turn a computer on, but at the same time was fascinated by the scope of what was unfolding before my eyes. Equally this is Creative Director Gilles Guerlet's first ever design encounter with the Internet. Consequently, we felt committed to structuring a site that would be a sleek but user friendly "information machine."

MODELS.com is divided into Four principal sections, each with its own individual homepage (and many --especially Groove Culture with its own sectional headings). To find a specific topic, use the Search Engine.

StyleCulture is where we give an overview of the latest pulses in NYC style and fashion culture. In Style Culture, we are interested in keeping an eye on The Industry balanced against a more raw and immediate Streetlevel approach. (see Streetculture)

GrooveCulture is our music section which is sub-divided by genre into three other sections: Rock/Alternative, Hip Hop/R&B and Electronic Dance.

NightCulture is our prism through which we filter the world of NY nightclubs, with a bar section winging its way to you. We also check in with the latest gossip, announcements and arrivals as well as providing you with vital notes as to how to social-climb your way through this super charged town.

MetaCulture is where we survey NYC's cultural landscape in the form of feature articles, a sex helpline, horoscopes, book reviews, and a Public Forum where-you the reader/viewer can have your immediate say about the issues raised in Models.com.

All our information is "archived" -which means, everything ever written in MODELS.com will always be available to you. However, articles will be updated on different platforms. Feel free to check in daily, because at MODELS.com time is fluid and content shifts constantly as new information washes in. If on the way to work we spot something exciting and new, don't be surprised to find a full article on it by late afternoon. You will notice these slight but constant updates of material by shifting "headlines" signified by a change in the color of the text.

Speaking of which, the Models.com site is text heavy because we feel its really important to allow each article to fully flesh its central idea out, a luxury that should not only be limited to a print magazine. We are not demanding that you sit and read every article on the screen. By all means, hit that print button when you find something that captures your attention.

If you have a slow connection or a browser that does not support a lot of heavy graphics, hit our (lightning symbol) icon and it will deliver the bottom line information to you instantly, without the heavier picture files. We recommend 4.0 or higher versions of browsers for optimal viewing.

Most importantly Models.com is about a certain inter-connectivity. We love the reader who uses the Models.com "information machine" as a two way vehicle of communication. We're ducking the word "inter-activity" but our definition of the interactive experience, is not just about clicking and pointing, it is about you pouring your thoughts and stances and positions back at us. Unlike a print magazine, the whole idea is for you to talk to us and to each other.

We came to The Net because we were fed up with the cliqueishness and gang-mentality of certain publishing entities. We could see a whole new 90's culture being formed in NYC but too many publications were obsessed with the past to give this New Culture the support it demanded. This is why it is so vital that you become a part of the growth and developmental process at Models.com.

With that idea in mind, hang out in the User Forums making those vital connections with people who think like you and me. Lurk in our club search engines until you find what you're looking for. Make this place your own, take up residence in our conceptual New York, the one that lurks in our collective minds. You know and I know that it is not about elitism or exclusion. You're welcome and stay as long as you like. Access All Areas!
