Did you feel like an alien walking the John Bartlett during the Spring shows to the beat of "Strange World"?
Defintely like an alien. The people there were cool. Johnathon was such a great guy. Most of the guys had done a lot of shows so there was no pressure on me. Everything was calm and relaxed. It was, like, just go out there and do your thing
Do you think of yourself as a male waif?
I try not to think of myself at all. I fit into that category if you want me to. I mean I'm definetly skinny and ...pale. I try to keep myself as pale as possible but I think I'm too severe to be a waif.
Are you under the influence of Bowie? He was quite acoustic in the early days.
I'd say I've been influenced by everything I've ever listened to. I'm very much inspired by Bjork and what she does.I didn't seek to imitate anyone though. I certainly admire Bowie's ability to break boundaries and at the same time maintain a career and still remain interesting to a certain degree. And he doesn't take himself too seriously which is definetly admirable

Androgynous is a word that follows you everywhere: the voice, the bone structure, the sensitivity. Do you suppose androgynes are making a comeback?
Honestly, I think if you're human you have to realize that there are these two forces within you. If you look at advertising its getting more and more androgynous everyday. In terms of clothing the divsions between men and women are almost gone . I mean's its something that's always been there but its never been as 'en masse' a thing in society as it is now.

OK so you obviously subscribe to a feeling of androgyny, alienism, futurism. So how come you don't do anything ravey?
My vision of the future is a combination of the organic and inorganic. Its technological but its going back to nature. I think that we're beginning to realize that technology can only take you so far. In my life I seek a balance between the two. I love the warmth of an acoustic guitar but at the same time I'll use an electronic keyboard as the foundation to play off of, or in those those funny little samples in the back of "Don't Walk Away". In fact, "Don't Walk Away" to me was fusion of the electronic and the organic. The vocal opening is very electronic, very synthetic but then it widens into a more warm, more human track
Touche'

I don't know, maybe it didn't come across.
No, that's why I responded to it. Yo , how come supercool photog Melodie McDaniels takes so many pictures of you?
I used to live with Melodie.
Oh really
Yeah we really funny together.
So all the new school kids know each other eh. Now that I know everything there is to know about you, let me go transcribe this expose' while the iron's still hot.
Be gentle with me my brother alien (laughter)
