From being listed in models.com, a nationally known recording artist has expressed interest in my appearing in his upcoming music video. This will probably be a local project, since he now lives on Maui--my home also! As much as I love Maui I would like to do some traveling soon.

What advice would you have for other aspiring models trying to get noticed by these agents?
My advice to anyone thinking about a career in modeling: give it a try, send in your photos--you'll never know if you don't give it a shot! In the meantime, stay in shape, and keep your health and spirit high!

How did you become interested in modeling?
A close friend of mine suggested I give models.com a try.
I'm sure glad I did!

What agencies have you been in contact through MODELS.com?
Although I've been a member for only a few weeks, some top agencies have contacted me, including IMG, Karin's (NY), and Satchi.

Since I joined Models.com I've met some really cool people. Through these people I have not only been entertained, but I've also learned alot! I even had a recent photo shoot with a guy I was refered to by someone I met on the forums. The advice I get has really helped me. There are lots of people with lots of different experiences ready to give direction to anyone who asks, on the forums. And the Agency Directory is really convienient.

What advice would you have for other aspiring models trying to get noticed by these agents?
Take clear pictures of yourself, and don't fib about your stats. It IS tempting to say your measurments are a few inches more favorable than what they are (I even did it at first), but actually it will just work against you. People can tell. Also, don't take it personally if you may not fit into the category of modeling that you wish to fit into. Modeling is like any other job, really. Some people are born with a natural inclination to be good at it, for one reason or another. Others just aren't. If you aren't meant to be a model, that just means you are best at somthing else! Don't take criticism personally.

How did you become interested in modeling?
When I was 12 a woman who worked for the Kim Dawson agency in Dallas, TX told me I could be a model. Sounded good to me!

What agencies have you been in contact through MODELS.com?
HMM, Ford NY, DNA, and Kim Dawson so far!

What was your experience with them?
None yet! I'm going to NYC this month to see what happens!

What advice would you have for other aspiring models trying to get noticed by these agents?
Advice, nothing other than never give up,it is a tough world out there with a lot rejections, just keep fighting and some one is going to want you someday.

How did you become interested in modeling?
I have always liked the world of modeling because of the challenge, challenge of the market to become the best in what you like to do.Basically becoming a model is to get my face out and let the world discover and want me for whatever it is that they like about me.

What agencies have you been in contact through MODELS.com?
I have contact almost every agency in the agenies directory such as Mc donald Richard, Q models, Boss NY, Next, Ford NY, Milla model and more.....

MDC has taught me alot... and most - if not all my questions have been answered by using the search on the forums to read old posts. I have met some great model friends - Marloes and Lindsay Davis. I have worked with several MDC photographers when I come and visit the States - Glenn Usdin, Long Nguyen, Christian Behr, Eric Striffler, Michael Sandy and Rodney Young... they've been great.

Modeling is a job... don't go in it because you think you'll be preceived as "beautiful" and then act bigheaded about it. Realise and remember that beauty is only in the eye of the beholder - what is beautiful to someone, may not be beautiful to someone else.... everyone sees things differently, even in the modeling world... and personality is very important... So make sure you have a good one!! :) Good luck with all of your careers.

How did you become interested in modeling?
From a young age I always loved drawing pictures of skinny women with really bizarre features and they'd be wearing the most outrageous clothes... I had a very vivid imagination and I loved fashion... I always watched the TV programme called "The Clothes Show". When I hit around 8 years old, my sister was in her teens... she is a 6'1 amazon and got scouted everywhere she went... I thought it was wonderful. However, she wasn't at all interested in the business... When I reached 17, I thought I'd give it a try.

What was your experience with them?
It's been a slow... but looking up to be a positive proccess... It is difficult as I am under the height barrier being 5'6, but I have had agency interest in Hong Kong and we're keeping in touch... And an agency in Spain has asked if I can go out there for at least one month. I also visited Satchi Management in DC... Anita has been great and believed I had a very editorial look and is helping me to get into the NY office.

What advice would you have for other aspiring models trying to get noticed by these agents?
Just keep pushing and pushing... you may be really lucky and have agents wanting you straight away... Or if not, you just have to work at it alot more (if you really want it)... You just may not have the look they're after at the moment... and they're always after different things. Be positive. As I really do think hard work does pay off in the end.

I also like to take the time to thanks Models.com for the great updates and stories about the modeling world and the message boards are so helpful on finding out about agencies and reading about other model's experiences.

How did you become interested in modeling?
My girlfriend Leilani took some polaroids of me and sent them into agencies.I started to take it more seriously when the agencies wanted to meet me.

What agencies have you been in contact through MODELS.com?
I have been contacted by Major Models,LA Models,Karin Miami,Boss Models,Karin NYC,Next,Click LA,New York Models,Clear Models,V Models,Satchi Model Management NYC.

What was your experience with them?
Everyone was really nice but I would have had to relocate to NY to sign with most of them,so I ended up signing with a model manager so I can still be able to live in San Diego and just travel for my jobs.At the moment it looks like I will be working with 2 of the agencies that contacted me.

What advice would you have for other aspiring models trying to get noticed by these agents?
The best thing to do is send in clear snap shots of your body and face with your measurements. And have a positive attitude and learn how to take rejection well.

What agencies have you been in contact through MODELS.com?
Boss Bread and R&L have contacted me. I have also been contacted with a few job opportunities.

How did you become interested in modeling?
I never really thought I could model. I had a few people suggest it to me, but I knew even at my thinnest (a 10/12) I wasn’t modeling material.
Then I had this amazing college professor who really inspired me. She talked plus models in the class and showed some pictures and I found myself really drawn to the idea. These women weren’t frumpy and in mumu’s they were sexy, fit and toned.
I thought about what great role models these women were being for all women with body image issues and I was sold on the idea.

What was your experience with them?
Roger and I talked on the forums, and I asked him to keep me in mind for any jobs he might get for plus. A few months back he submitted me for a runway job, but it didn’t work out. Darryl at Boss Bread’s plus division told me to contact him when I relocated, but the division went under soon after.

What advice would you have for other aspiring models trying to get noticed by these agents?
Listen to any advice qualified industry people might give you they know what they are talking about. You might not like what they have to say, but you will ultimately benefit if you keep their advice in mind. Be proactive! You can’t sit around waiting for your next big break, even if you get an agent(s) you have to keep in contact and try to keep your book updated. Most importantly be confident! This industry can be rough, not everyone will be nice about why they aren’t going to representing or hire you. It’s so important to feel comfortable with yourself before you try to model.

Even after you think you’ve made it to a point where you are working, things change and you have to start all over again. For example, I just moved to CA and have to look for representation all over again.

I am a new member here at Models.com, and I am looking forward to working with anyone who see's my potential.

How did you become interested in modeling?
I became interested in modeling after loosing 100 pounds, a drastic change. All my life i was a big kid, two years ago i was 5'5, 260 lbs, the thought of modeling never crossed my mind once. Then last year I was 6'2, 160 lbs, I became interested in modeling.

What advice would you have for other aspiring models trying to get noticed by these agents?
To my fellow aspiring models looking to get noticed, I say Hang In There, and just remember everyone has the potential to make it big, you just have to know how to express it. Be Your Self, and what ever you do, put your all into it, and don't give up, but most importantly HAVE FUN!
