No one does a fashion collaboration quite like H&M and the brand’s latest endeavor, a pitch perfect pair up with Maison Martin Margiela ranks among the most unexpected and chicest mashups ever. Naturally, when you combine two of the industry’s biggest powerhouses, the stars are going to come out in support. Last night at New York’s historic 5 Beekman Street, Margiela aficionados mixed and mingled, while experiencing an unusual combo of high art and high street fashion.

Guests were treated to an immersive dance performance by choreographer Anne Teresa de Keersmaeker and an array of specially crafted installations, that filled all nine of 5 Beekman’s floors. The well-heeled crowd had to hoof it up several flights of stairs to get the full experience, but if there is any brand worth exerting yourself for it is Margiela. VIPs in attendance included superstar fashionistas like Doutzen Kroes, Joan Smalls, designers Olivier Theyskens, Alexander Wang and red carpet regulars like Kanye West, Sarah Jessica Parker and Julianne Moore.
