Classical mythology played a major role throughout the films of the legendary French director Jean Cocteau, offering an echo of the past and bringing it into the present. The artist Andréa Vamos’s current installation at the Maison Jean Cocteau in the suburbs of Paris achieves something similar, riffing on the myth of Ariadne and her famous labyrinth, here constructed from old rolls of film through the lush woods of the French countryside. Our latest MDX original editorial places the ethereal Australian beauty Hannah Elyse amidst the artwork, photographed by Marianna Sanvito and styled by Jonathan Huguet in otherworldly designs that play with texture, shape, and proportions. The result is, like the best of collaborations, so much more than the sum of its parts.
