With an all-black color palette serving as the ultimate canvas beauty superstars Guido Palau and Diane Kendal used Alexander Wang ‘s fall runway as a showcase for creativity. Kendal looked to 70s rockers KISS for cosmetic inspiration, but instead of mimicking the war paint Gene Simmons and co. slathered themselves in the makeup maestro created a minimalist take on hard rockin’ chic. Skin was left mostly bare, an application of NARS’ Aqua Gel Oil-Free Moisturizer serving as base for tinted moisturizer and the brand’s Sheer Glow foundation. The eye area was where things got interesting, with a liberal application of the brand new Aigle Noir Velvet Shadow Stick, a smoky grey combined with Belissima Duo eyeshadow for a subtly angled smoky eye.
The return of wet look hair was perhaps the show’s most striking visual. Models looked fresh out of the shower, or straight out of the mosh pit depending on who you asked. Palau created the look with a liberal application of Redken Diamond Oil, which provided just enough texture and depth to models hair to maintain the look from call time to showtime.
