Nataal: New African Photography

DSCF6246Photographer Atong Atem

Digital media platform Nataal showcased emerging visual artists with roots to Africa this past weekend and Models.com was there to capture the memorable moment. Held at Red Hook Labs and featuring pieces from contemporary photographers Atong Atem, Delphine Diallo, Kristin-Lee Moolman, Lakin Ogunbanwo, Namsa Leuba, and Owise Abuzaid, the exhibit, on view until May 15th, stands to challenge the status quo in the fashion and art world while giving light to the abundance of talent cropping up. The rich stories presented provide a modern lens to Africa and its diasporic connections – far from romanticizing the past but rather focused on a glimpse into a bold future.
