“Martine Sitbon, Alternative Vision” is an extensive collection of images featuring the works of French designer Martine Sitbon by the hands of iconic photographers like Paolo Roversi, Peter Lindbergh, Nick Knight, Mario Testino and more. The book, launched at the Broken Arm in Paris on October 3rd, puts her work into intimate visual perspective–art directed by none other than Sitbon’s husband Marc Ascoli, who in the introduction frames the book with a written portrait of his illustrious wife: “Martine is ambivalent—she is both profound and playful. Our relationship is a continual exchange; we are exceptionally close. An incredibly complete woman, Martine has managed to shape her own world over the years. What is this world like? Shadowy, childlike, feminine, androgynous, rock, poetic, nonchalant, violent, and elegant, as though it came from the streets. It stems from all these contrasts, in a moving field of opposites where the Parisian spirit flies beyond its boundaries. In this surge of generosity, Martine enjoys sharing all of her desires with us. It is an open-ended conversation…”
