Marc Jacobs’ Blue-haired Model Has Her Own Dress Code

Marc Jacobs’ show marks the last day of New York Fashion Week and his singular runway reverberates as a mainstay throughout the entire season–a show most often worthy of the fine-toothed combs it gets from industry-goers. F/W 17 was no different, this time: a one-of-a-kind set at the Park Avenue Armory, a diverse cast of models, and a collection that heavily nodded its head to early hip-hop. Amongst the line-up of models who walked, pared back in beauty looks, a shock of cobalt blue hair stood out on a familiar face. It’s Mae Lapres, who is decidedly unconventional when it comes to her own personal style. There’s no lack of street-style photos of Lapres to act as evidence towards her obsession with vintage clothes and borderline madcap inventiveness when it comes to dressing. Her blue hair is just the latest of choices that collectively form a fashion mantra that she sums up in a few words, “There are no fashion disasters, there are only attempts.” Watch Mae breakdown her no-rules dress code in the film below, directed by Janicke Askevold.
